DELTA Ministries International is an exceptional missions organization because of the value it places on the local church. When I saw its video about itsHaitian relief efforts, I got tears in my eyes. Since I am still recovering from Lyme disease, and can’t go myself, I thought donating my art could be a way for me to help. My name is Charis Vetter, I am a 24-year-old artist, and I want you to be able to benefit from seeing the Lord work like I have. So I donated these prints for you for purchase, and all the proceeds will benefit DELTA. My prayer is that it will remind you of the greatness of our God. He will use whatever you have to offer, and show you His power and love in astonishing ways. God can do anything with your time and money. You may suppose He is nearby, but do you truly believe that he can work miracles with what you give? God uses whatever you offer him in remarkable ways. Growing up, I never imagined myself serving by doing art. In fact, I only started drawing and painting 18 months ago. When I was in high school, I wanted to be on the front scenes for God. I yearned to go on missions trips -- like the ones DELTA trains and coordinates -- or to be a concert pianist and study abroad. God broke these dreams, though, when I became too sick with Lyme disease to do anything overseas. I was barely able to travel outside my own house. I thought I had lost everything, and my lofty ambitions died along with a part of my heart. It was then that God presented me with a new option -- to be an artist. After I learned about DELTA, I talked to one of the mission’s board members, and he suggested I contact them. That is the fantastic part about this – without DELTA teaming with the local church, I never would have even thought about serving God this way. Your contributions to the Kingdom of God are influential, no matter how small they look to you. God multiplies whatever you offer, and also presents the giver with impressive miracles. An illustration of this is when I had a series of remarkable events happen that came directly as a result of prayer and giving. It was also during a time of harsh testing when I was questioned God’s existence. I had been a Christian since I was seven, so I decided to rally the little faith I had and ask God for something to prove himself. I prayed, “If you are there, let me know.” Then I took some action. The first Sunday, I gave about $7 to the church, not knowing what would happen. Later that week, someone gave me an unexpected check for $70. I was excited, since I felt it was Jesus showing He cared about me: “This is great,” I thought, “I’ll do this again.” The next Sunday, I gave $30. Later that week, I received $300. “Wow,” I thought, “I never imagined this. God must care about me more than I ever dreamed.” I was put into my place and took my faith seriously again. Three hundred dollars is big amount of money for a poor college student. The last Sunday, I gave $80 to the church. Later that week, I spied an unusual envelope in the mail. When I opened it, a check for $8,000 from the IRS thrust its way out. I cried. God is big. He can do anything. This story is not just about money, but letting Him work by giving Him whatever amount of money, faith, and time you have. You can get involved, too. By purchasing the art I donated to DELTA. You will help further its mission of helping local churches with short-term missions. Expect miracles. Pray for a Honda Civic like I did, and receive one... only, I didn’t pray for the color, so it was not what I pictured. All of us can join together by finding our niche to serve the Lord: giving, serving, traveling abroad, or praying.
