My art is realistic and vivid, seeking concreteness and authenticity. It is a depiction of living above suffering. I have been ill with Lyme Disease for 20 years, and at times I fought against death. At my darkest times, I created my lightest works. My work seeks to rise above pain, and illuminate the release of adversity.
The works I produce are influenced by my battle with chronic illness, as well as my background growing up in the west. I spent many hours outdoors in Wyoming and South Dakota. The wildlife and nature that surrounded me greatly influenced my paintings.
My goal in my future art is to continue to portray the ascension above of darkness and death. With recent miscarriages, my work is even more influenced by my internal struggles. I hope to produce more works that more clearly represent my hope within my pain.
